There see the Rat - O – man,
Paddling his broken boat.
See the holes! Oh! See the holes
Do you think, he will come ashore?
Rat - O - man reached the shore,
Took his boat to Dr. Jose,
He told his doctor,
His boat had faltered.
The doctor came
With his stethoscope,
Heard the boat's
Heart beat little slow.
"Oh! Rat - O - Man
Your boat is very sick,
We need to admit
To make him fit.
Come here after two days
Then your boat will be okay,
You can take him for a merry round,
Even on a storm or a gale around.”
Wednesday saw Rat - O - Man
Rush to the hospital on his hands,
To see his boat looking cross,
With band aids, cotton strips stretched across
Rat – O – man took his boat
For a test ride along the shore,
Watched the boat move with pride,
Through the gales and the storm alight.

This is a fun read! Umm, I think you can further simplify "some" lines to entirely fit in the kids line. Keep writing!!!
you know i realised something when I started writing for kids. It's not an easy task, every word should be selected carefully. thanks for pointing this out. Will be more careful and try to simplify this one too...
